CALL FOR APPLICATION
11 February 201911 February 2019, the Faculty of Law of the University "Ukshin Hoti", Prizren in
cooperation with the Kosovo Chamber of Advocates, supported by USAID "Justice is Worth"
invites students from the Law Faculty to apply to be part of the Criminal Law Clinic with real
cases.
ABOUT CRIMINAL JUDICIAL CLINIC
The Criminal Legal Clinic (Clinic) gives students the opportunity to assist lawyers of the
Kosovo Bar Association (KCA) in pro bonds of defendants with a serious economic situation
in criminal cases. Participating students will have the opportunity to experience the
implementation of academic lessons in practice while working on real criminal cases during
the fourth year of the Law Faculty (or the Master Program, Criminal). The lectures of the
clinic will be held in the premises of the Faculty of Law, while the activities of representation
of clients (counselling and advocacy) will be held in the offices of KCA advocates and,
where appropriate, in the court or prosecutor's office. Clinical students will meet once a week
for lecture and round table discussions about criminal proceedings. Lectures will be held by
invited lecturers who are professionals lawyers (prosecutors, lawyers and judges),
representatives of civil society organizations, etc. In addition to lectures, students will be
working on teams to assist lawyers to represent clients in court and at all preparatory stages
of free criminal cases. Active Clinical Students are expected to share their clinic experience
with high school students through activities within USAID "Justice is Worth" activity.
ROLE AND STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Each student (under the supervision of a KCA advocate) will engage in a full range of lawyer
duties:• Interviewing and counselling of the client• Prepare and argue the defence;• Review
of data, evidence etc;• Law research to provide support for different legal theories;•
Assistance in drafting and submitting various papers;• Participate in lectures once a week;•
Participate in the delivery of high school lectures conducted by partners of the "Justice is
Worth" Program.
REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS to be part of the Clinic, Students must meet the
following criteria:• To be third year students of the Fourth Law Faculty or a candidate for
Master in Criminal Law at the Law Faculty University "Ukshin Hoti ", Prizren. Possessing
legal writing skills;• Possessing legal research skills;• Ability to provide legal advice to
clients;• Demonstrate interest in judicial reform, engagement in the community, and access to
justice;• Demonstrate ethical commitment to the clinic;• Have not been part of the D4J
Criminal Legal Clinic in the past;• Good speaking and writing skills in one of the official
languages of Kosovo. Students interested to participate in this Clinic should apply by

ABOUT THE PROGRAM “JUSTICE IS WORTH”
USAID "Justice is Worth" Activity aims to improve access to justice for all, including
disadvantaged and disadvantaged groups marginalized, strengthening the systems and
providing information on free legal aid. Justice program applies is a three year program
funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and through this
competition will support the growth of opportunities for developing critical thinking and
practical skills of students.
